Vegan in Brno, Czech Republic

Brno is the second biggest city in the Czech Republic and offers quite a lot of delicious options for vegans. In this post, I’m sharing my favorite places to eat vegan in Brno. Let’s get started!

Vegan in Brno

Vegan in … is a series of posts on Elephantastic Vegan where I write about my vegan travelling experiences. I love to travel, especially to larger cities, rather than spending my days on the beach at some resort, but finding restaurants with vegan options in a foreign city isn’t always that easy. With this post, I want to show you awesome places to eat for your next trip to Brno in the Czech Republic! :)

It’s never a bad idea to use HappyCow to get a neat overview of your vegan eating possibilities.

I haven’t even had the chance to try all of the vegan and vegan-friendly restaurants in Brno because the city has quite a lot to offer for vegans and I only was there for three days. So naturally, this post only contains the few options I’ve tested and tried.

I was really pleasantly surprised that there are SO many 100% vegan restaurants, which I was seeking out especially because when I don’t speak the language, it’s a bit risky to go to a vegetarian or vegan-friendly restaurant. I didn’t want to order something non-vegan by accident. So all of the restaurants mentioned below are 100% vegan.

Bianca in Brno

Forky’s

Ve Vaňkovce 1, 602 00 Brno-střed-Trnitá, Czechia + many more location in Czechia and Slovakia

Website

Forky’s is a vegan chain with many locations in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. They serve burgers, wraps, bowls, and a couple of Middle Eastern dishes and Czech dishes. Everything we tried was delicious. The nuggets might have been my favorite. And I love that they are serving halved baby potatoes (with really good seasoning!) instead of the typical fries. Of course, I also had to try their raw tiramisu which was delicious too.

Vegan AF Ramen

Marešova 305/14, 602 00 Brno-střed-Veveří, Czechia

Website

Vegan AF Ramen is a vegan Japanese restaurant offering ramen, donburi, dumplings, bao buns, and more. I can’t pass up bao buns and was really excited to eat them again, so we ordered all three different kinds of bao buns. The bao buns were really good, fluffy buns, delicious meat alternatives, and flavorful fillings. We also had dumplings as a starter and I loved to try all the different fillings.

Pizza Punk

Vegan Pizza at Pizza Punk Brno
Pizza with vegan mozzarella, mushrooms, olives and corn

6, Jana Uhra 164, Veveří, 602 00 Brno-střed, Czechia

Website

Pizza Punk is a vegan pizza place with only a couple of seats. The menu isn’t huge (Gordon Ramsey would approve) but they have enough so everyone will find something! The crust is perfect and that’s the most important thing. Most of the pizzas come with homemade cashew mozzarella, which was really good! I love it when restaurants make their own vegan cheese!

Vegalité

Slovákova 359 /10, 602 00 Brno-střed, Czechia

Website

Vegalité is a vegan pub/restaurant. They have lots of typical Czech food and also the typical dumplings, which made me very happy! As a starter, we had fried bread in ‘egg’ pea batter with veggies and soy meat and this was such a surprisingly good dish! We loved THIS! As the main dish, I had the vegan steak with chanterelle mushroom sauce and Czech vegan dumplings. My boyfriend had the same with a different sauce. This was my favorite restaurant in Brno!

Lákava

Vegan Pastry at Lakava Brno
Czech Kolache with nut filling

Merhautova 449/44, 613 00 Brno-sever-Zábrdovice, Czechia

Website

We went to Lákava for a sweet afternoon delight and weren’t disappointed. The cappuccino and vegan Kolache with nutty filling were really good and not overly sweet. This is a nice, comfy café with friendly staff. They also sell vegan camembert, which unfortunately I didn’t try but looked interesting!

So this was all the food I had during my Brno Trip. Have you ever been there? Do you have any additional vegan-friendly restaurant tips for Brno? I’d love to know in the comments!
