Spelt Chia Crackers

Have you ever made crackers at home? They are super easy to make! These ones are made with spelt flour and topped with chia seeds. So healthy!

Ingredients

Ingredients for the crackers

  • 1 cup spelt flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup water

For the Chia Topping

  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 teaspoon maple syrup
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F/180°C.
  • In a bowl, add the spelt flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir.
  • Add in the water. Use a wooden spoon to stir and combine. You can also use your hands to knead the dough until it comes together. Add more flour if your dough is too sticky or add more water if it is too dry.
  • On lightly floured parchment paper, roll out the dough as thin and evenly as possible.
  • In a small bowl, combine maple syrup, water, and salt for the chia topping. This acts as our glue. Brush the mixture onto the rolled-out cracker dough. Then sprinkle the chia seeds on top.
  • Cut the dough with a pizza cutter length- and widthwise. Carefully pull the parchment paper with the crackers onto a baking tray.
  • Bake the crackers in the oven for about 15-20 minutes (until they get crispy).
  • Once they are crisp, you can break them into individual crackers. And enjoy!
