Squid Game's Dalgona Candy

Dalgona Candy is a Korean treat that got super popular because of the Netflix series ‘Squid Game’. You ought to break off the border (by using a needle, your fingers, licking, etc.) from the shape without breaking the shape. Can you do it? It’s so much fun to try!

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  • Heat a pan to medium to high heat, add the sugar. Let it cook until the sugar has melted. Stir it (2 chopsticks work best) to keep it from burning.
  • Take the pan off the heat. Add the baking soda. And stir again. It should be slightly foamy.
  • Pour the mixture onto parchment paper. (Make 2-3 blobs depending on the size and thickness you’ll want to have later)
  • Use a glass with a flat bottom to press the sugar mixture down a bit.
  • Use a cookie cutter to press the shape into the cookie. Don’t press it completely down of course.
  • Let it cool off completely, now you can try to remove the shape by breaking off the outer border. Have fun!

Notes

Tip: Gather all the ingredients, tools, and everything you need beforehand. Once the sugar is melting you have to work fast (to keep it from burning) and later when pressing the form (from hardening too quick).
